It is one of the Lesser Sunda Islands. Renting a villa in Lombok will take you a wilder destination with fewer tourists.
More off the beaten track and less visited than its neighbour Bali, this island attracts travellers looking for calm, intimacy and to experience a more traditional way of life. The luxury rental villas in Lombok are mostly beachfront properties. Our private homes let you truly immerse yourself in nature with lush gardens and large open spaces sheltered by palm trees.
Lombok is the perfect destination to rest and relax, a perfect sanctuary away from the world and the bustling crowds, you can relax and get a suntan on a deserted beach or by your own swimming pool. Scuba divers and snorkelers can swim in the crystal clear waters of Lombok or the Gili Islands famous for their turtles. And for a return to civilisation, a gourmet lunch or dinner at The Oberoi will delight your taste buds.
The main sites in Lombok:
- The Gili Islands: Trawangan, Air and Meno. Located north west of Lombok, these three little islands, lined with coconut trees and palm trees offer some magnificent beaches as well as 16 dive centres from which to explore the rich underwater environment. Gili Trawangan is well known in the party scene, although it is also a very family friendly island. The island often hosts couples on their honeymoon as well as families. The two neighbouring islands are often preferred by travellers who like a quiet place to mingle with the locals. The islands can be reached from the west of Lombok by speedboat, which takes 15 minutes.
- Mount Rinjani and the inland with its magnificent scenery, including rice fields and waterfalls.
- Vast deserted fine sandy beaches on the south of the island. Kuta-Lombok with its rarely visited coastline, is quite the opposite of Kuta-Bali.
It’s possible to reach Lombok by taking a speedboat from Amed, Bali. It is also possible to get to Lombok by air to Bandar Udara Internasional Lombok airport, which has flights from Kulala Lumpur, Johor Bahru (Air Asia), Singapore (Silkair), Denpasar Bali and Subaraya (Garuda Indonesia)
