Villa Levi

Rising from the banks of a small river shaded by a towering banyan tree, this peaceful villa is blessed with an abundance of tropical flora and immaculate lawns. Partly designed by Alberto Cortes and Yvonne Hulst, the designers responsible for The Purist in Ubud, The Giri Residence in Ibiza and Ryad Dyor in Marrakech, Villa Levi combines contemporary design with eclectic Indonesian antiques and a sublime back-to-nature setting.

While the ambiance is intimate, the expansive rice fields that surround the villa create a wonderful sense of space. The use of recycled timber and local stone throughout – from ironwood decking, to stone tables and marble bathtubs – creates wonderful texture and earthy tones; a perfect reflection of the natural setting.

The villa’s four uniquely styled bedroom suites are ideal for small groups, families, solo travellers or honeymooners. Groups will enjoy the open-plan lounge and alfresco dining terraces – supported by fabulous gourmet kitchen facilities and an à la carte menu, and the pool deck with a collection of oversize sun beds and rustic table settings. Then again, if me-time is on the agenda, you can slip away into the luxurious spa treatment area, soak in the jacuzzi, or hide away with a book on a giant sofa and leave the world behind. VILLA LAYOUT

A series of pavilions are clustered in a rectangular shape around a sunken lawn and 16-metre swimming pool, with living, dining and kitchen areas at one end, pool deck at the other, and bedroom pavilions either side. Stairs from the pool deck lead down to a terrace and a fourth bedroom/TV room, spa and gym room. Another set of stairs lead up from the pool deck to a private rooftop terrace.

LIVING & DINING AREA

Stepping-stones over a pond lead past a long Palimanan frieze and into the open-plan living, dining and kitchen areas that overlook the whole property and the rice fields beyond. A large comfortable sofa and coffee table are set in one corner, and a stone-topped table seats six. The island-style guest kitchen and wet bar is equipped with a hob, fridge and espresso machine, and bar stools at the counter make a great place for enjoying a cocktail or a bottle of wine, while an iPod and dock provide entertainment.

The dining wing is dominated by a massive table carved from a single tree trunk, accompanied by eight plump-cushioned chairs. Stone shelving lines one of the walls with an evocative collection of earthenware pots and ethnic curios.

Casual lounge areas throughout the villa make comfortable hideaways. The pool deck is furnished with three double sun loungers shaded by graceful parasols and two long tables overlooking the river – perfect for alfresco meals, while soft cushions create a tempting spot for a siesta in the poolside bale.

Stairs lead up to a charming rooftop terrace, suitable for morning yoga or moments of quiet reflection tucked into an oversized chair. An enchanting riverfront terrace sits in the shade of giant trees and is furnished with giant stone pots filled with ornamental palms, and a round marble tub. The spa – a soothing space with two massage beds and bamboo and distressed wood detailing – is adjoined by an air-conditioned gym room.

BEDROOMS

Villa Levi’s four generous air-conditioned bedrooms are all equipped with satellite TV/DVD players, mini bars, customised amenites and ample storage space. Each is decorated with eclectic artwork and artefacts. Deluxe beds are covered in Egyptian cotton linens, and set under four-poster canopies draped with sheer netting.

- Casa Echo
The master suite, which is slightly larger than the other rooms, is furnished with a king-size bed and large sofa. The luxurious covered garden bathroom is fringed with greenery, and fitted with double rain showers overlooking the river. A wooden path way flanked by fish ponds leads to the enchanting outdoor jacuzzi.

- Pool View I
This spacious room is furnished with a queen-size bed, sofa and antique display cabinet. In the pastel green bathroom the rain shower is surrounded by a veranda with an outdoor marble bathtub tucked in one corner. The walk-in dressing room overlooks the trees and is big enough to be used as an additional bedroom.

- Pool View II
In this second guest room, twin beds adorned in traditional ikat textiles can be converted to a king. Glass doors open onto the garden, and the indoor bathroom is fitted with a tub, walk-in dressing room, rain shower and additional courtyard shower.

- Casa River
Stone walls meet polished stone floors in this atmospheric river-front room with queen-size bed, massive corner lounge suite and bamboo lined ceiling. From the indoor bathroom, which is fitted with a walk-in shower, a door leads onto a deck where a round marble bathtub overlooks the trees. This room doubles as a TV lounge.

STAFF

One of the greatest advantages of staying in a villa is the personalised service provided by dedicated staff. Villa Levi’s staff have been professionally trained and will do their utmost to please with their warm and friendly Balinese hospitality.

- Villa manager
Villa Levi’s friendly and helpful manager is responsible for overall operations. His job is to oversee and coordinate the staff and property and to assist guests during their stay.

- Chef
The villa’s skilled private chef will happily prepare anything from the Western, Asian and vegetarian à la carte menu, as well as accommodate special requests, children’s meals and dietary requirements.

- Butler
Their butler serves meals, arranges transport and in-villa activities, and assists the manager in daily operations.

- Room Attendant
A villa attendant looks after daily housekeeping and domestic duties.

- Garden and pool
A gardener maintains Villa Levi’s lush gardens and swimming pool.

- Security
Professional guards provide night-time security at Villa Levi.

DINING

Their chef is at your service to prepare daily breakfast, lunch and dinner. Villa Levi also offers delicious snacks and meals featuring Asian and western dishes to cater to all tastes, with an excellent selection of vegetarian and children’s option. We can also tailor meals to accommodate any special dietary requirements or specific requests. Western and Asian meals include Indonesian chicken satay, fish of the day, Australian beef Madagaskar, and king prawns in garlic, all artistically presented.

CHILDREN

The family friendly advantages of a villa holiday are many, including access to your own private facilities and the freedom to use them whenever you want. Knowing that the kids can run around happily, independently and safely, without you having to worry about other guests, is a real plus – and one that means parents are certain to have a more relaxed holiday too.

Villa Levi is a great villa for children, who will love the lawns and swimming pool. High vantage points and centralised design make it easy for parents to keep an eye on kids.

The team of friendly staff will make children feel as welcome as adults, and having these willing helpers on hand gives guests plenty of flexibility and freedom to do their own exploring beyond the villa grounds (full-time babysitting incurs a small extra cost).

Although the equipped kitchen allows you to prepare meals for fussy eaters or babies with ease, staff will happily to do this for you – just talk through your requirements and meal schedules with the villa manager or chef and they will take care of the rest. Cheeseburger or spaghetti bolognaise for lunch? No problem. The chef can customise all meals to suit children’s taste buds.

Don’t worry about packing all that cumbersome kids’ equipment for your stay. Just let us know what you need, and anything they don’t have in-house (villa facilities include a baby cot and highchair,) we can hire on your behalf.
