Villa Kumbura

Kumbura means rice paddy fields in Sinhala, and this lovely peaceful haven, perfectly perched on a small elevation, enjoys lovely views across an extensive field.

Access to the house is well off the main road along a small village paved track that invites you to feel you are entering a new world. One where the stresses and hassles of the world you are leaving do not exist. As you meander through a small village you arrive at the white washed columns that whisper you are arriving somewhere special.

The stone drive curves through the trees to a circular parking area with steps leading up to the house on one side. The garden stretches out on two of the other side with the rice fields emerging behind you.

Once on the top step your gaze is drawn through the double doors to the pool glistening the far side of the house reflecting the coconut palm and merging with the rice fields beyond. Walking in you will immediately appreciate there has been lots of attention spent on the details. Lights, tilling, plants, art, door handles etc

The furniture is all beautifully designed and hand made. A sleek timber desk and chair framed by an alter table and floor lamps on one side and on the other two extra long sofas facing.

There are four ensuite bedrooms in all. Three bedrooms are in the main house with the 4th bedroom, a garden suite, set slightly apart. You enter the house via a lofty and spacious hall / sitting area with a lovely desk on one side and comfortable sofas on the other. There is a bedroom on either side. Carry on thorough the hall, with gorgeous tiles, towards a covered verandah towards the pool. On one side of the pool is the kitchen and covered dining veranda whilst on the other is the 3rd bedroom - a guest double - and a covered sitting area. This bedroom has an interconnecting bathroom with the twin bedroom making it perfect for families with small children.

Kumbura has a beautiful cultivated rice fields in the back ground and there are sun loungers, garden chairs and a hammock to choose from where you wish to relax and enjoy the breeze.

In all Kumbura is an oasis. Heavily influenced by Sri Lankan heritage, the house design appreciates that the real beauty is nature. The owners have allowed her to provide the decoration and you are invited to relax in her warm and safe embrace.

STAFF

The villa is fully staffed, you will have the same experience as a 5* hotel, with fresh bedding, towels provided, breakfast cooked, bedroom cleaned daily – but with the space and freedom of your own villa. The staff will make sure you have an incredible stay. The housekeeper can cook local cuisine that is simple and elegant giving you a true taste of Sri Lanka. For a more extensive menu a Chef can be arranged at the time of booking for extra charge
