LIVING & DINING AREA
Unwind in our large living and dining area which has a lovely "inside-outside" feel flanked by garden and pool features and opening through louvred doors to the pool terrace and garden with an unforgettable ocean vista. The space is tastefully decorated with comfortable sofas and antiques. A large round table is perfect for dining inside.
THE SUITES
Ambalama has four spacious suites all enjoying ocean views through louvred doors which open onto a lawned terrace. Each wing has two bedrooms each with ensuite bathrooms. Two suites have outside showers — an experience not to be missed. Two suites also have daybeds suitable for young children to sleep on. Cots can be provided. All rooms have air con and fans. Temperatures at night are comfortable with cooling breezes off the ocean. Dark wooden four poster beds with ultra comfortable mattresses each with mosquito netting and fresh linen sheets offer a wonderful nights sleep. There are three king sized bed suites and one twin suite.
DINING
Dining at Ambalama offers a feast of choices; in-villa cuisine with excellent international dishes or memorable tasty local fare all prepared by their exclusive villa chef and his team. Enjoy a beachside BBQ with superb fresh fish bought daily at the market.
Ambalama has its own in-house chef exclusively for the requirements of guests. There is a villa menu but please do ask for your favourites too. Each day the chef will discuss with you your meal requirements. Food is charged at cost and is bought daily, fresh. A visit to the market with the chef is one of the highlights of any stay. You will be asked to provide a cash float for daily provisions. The villa can provide soft drinks, and they can buy excellent local Anchor beer on your behalf. They recommend you use your DF allowances to bring in wine and liquor for your consumption since the local range is limited.
THE FACILITIES
Ambalama is all about making your stay as comfortable and relaxed as possible. Relax on our sun loungers by the large infinity pool. Enjoy a spectacular sunset reclining in their beachside ambalama. Or experience a Sri Lankan massage in the privacy of your suite. For those of you who have to stay connected with the outside world roaming signals for handphones are good, there is complimentary wifi throughout the villa and we have a Bluetooth music system for guests who want to bring music with them. Please note there is no TV.
WEDDINGS & EVENTS
Ambalama is ideal for private functions with large public areas. It is popular for small intimate weddings and with honeymooners. Please check with us for all costs and conditions.

Ambalama is just 5 kilometers from Galle on the south coast of Sri Lanka in the village of Dalawella with its pristine beach and approx 150 km from Colombo International Airport. With the new highway open its a very comfortable and scenic journey which takes 90-150 minutes depending on the traffic conditions.
Things to do
Ambalama has the conveniences of modern living — complimentary wifi, in-villa dining, in-villa massage and a wonderful swimming pool. Step outside of the villa and the wonders and charms of Sri Lanka await. Galle Fort for history shopping and dining, blue whale watching, spice plantations, wonderful National Parks, surfing and diving and , if you are lucky, the unique experience of watching a turtle laying her eggs right by the villa on the beach.
1. Visit historic Galle Fort, a World Heritage site and home to an increasing variety of shops, restaurants and beverage bars.
2. Stroll along the wonderful beach and watch the "stick fishermen" on your way to sunset drinks at Widjayas, a popular local bar.
3. Experience Galle's markets — watch the daily fish catch being hauled in and sample the tropical fruits and vegetables.
4. Join an excursion to see blue whales — one of only two places in the world to see them.
5. Safari at Yala National Park to see its variety of wild life including its famous leopards.
6. Scuba dive or snorkel close by at Unawatuna.
7. Taste the different spices at a spice plantation reachable by bikes for hire.
8. Peek quietly at turtles coming up to Ambalama's beach to lay their eggs at nighttime.
